This Policy applies to "Personal Information" (as defined below) collected from Ventana online resources and communications (including websites, e-mail, and other online tools) that display a link to this Policy. This Policy does not apply to personal information collected from offline resources and communications, except in cases where such personal information is consolidated with personal information collected by Ventana online. This Policy also does not apply to third-party online resources to which Ventana's sites may link, where Ventana does not control the content or the privacy practices of such resources. Types of Information Collected and Used

  1. "Personal Information" means information about an identified or identifiable person, including name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, birth date, title, occupation, employer, or other identifying information. Ventana collects Personal Information only when you choose to submit it to us, and Ventana will not use such information in a manner other than outlined in this Policy without your prior permission.
  2. "User Content" means information other than Personal Information submitted by you. User Content includes posts, blogs, comments, feedback, testimonials, pictures, and other information voluntarily submitted by Users. Such content is regulated by Ventana's Terms and Conditions of Use, which incorporates this Policy.
  3. "Automatically Collected Data" includes information collected automatically through your use of our website and/or other electronic communications with Ventana. Website Data includes IP addresses, originating domain names, and data regarding the date, time, and length of use of a website.
  4. "Aggregate Information" means aggregated statistical information regarding Personal Information, User Content, and/or Website Use Data. Ventana removes all personal identifiers from Aggregate Information and uses such statistics to improve Ventana's products and services.

Collection and Use of Automatically Collected Data

Automatically Collected Data is used for statistical purposes such as measuring and analyzing use of this website as well as for improving the content, efficiency, and usability of this website. We and some third-party providers we work with receive Automatically Collected Data whenever you interact with us on our sites and in some e-mails we may send each other. We may use automatic technologies such as web server logs, cookies, web beacons, and third-party application and content tools such as Google Analytics to collect and analyze Automatically Collected Data. IP Addresses. An IP address is a number assigned to your computer whenever you access the Internet. All computer identification on the Internet is conducted with IP addresses, which allow computers and servers to recognize and communicate with each other. Ventana collects IP addresses to conduct system administration and report Aggregate Information to affiliates, business partners, and/or vendors to conduct site analysis and website performance review.

Cookies. A cookie is a piece of information that is placed automatically on your computer when you access certain websites. Ventana may use both session ID cookies (which expire after you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which remain on your computer after accessing a website). Cookies allow us to store information on the server to help make the interactive experience better for you and to conduct site analysis and website performance review. Collection and Use of Personal Information

Ventana only collects your Personal Information if you choose to give it to us. We will not sell or otherwise disclose your Personal Information to any third parties outside of the Roche Group for direct marketing purposes unless we provide clear notice to you and obtain your specific consent for your Personal Information to be shared in this manner. Ventana does not knowingly collect sensitive information that reveals race, ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, or a specific person's health or sex life. You may choose to withhold such information from us entirely.

We collect Personal Information to accomplish Ventana's business purposes. Our business purposes include legally authorized marketing, operational, and financial activities of Ventana or any member of the Roche Group. We also will use Personal Information to comply with your requests with respect to your relationship with Ventana. We will use this information to better understand your needs and how we can improve our products and services. We may use Personal Information to communicate with you about products or services that you might find interesting. We also may share your Personal Information with third parties acting on our behalf.

We may disclose your Personal Information outside of Ventana or other members of the Roche Group if you have authorized us to do so. Registration on our websites for use of a public forum authorizes us to post Personal Information to identify you and any content submitted by you on such websites. However, you will be given the opportunity to edit and/or limit use and disclosure of such Personal Information on any such public forum by logging in and changing your account settings. We also may share your Personal Information with third-party agents doing technological maintenance or working on our behalf to help fulfill business transactions, such as providing customers services and sending marketing communications about our products and services.

Additional Privacy Issues

E-mail an Acquaintance. On some Ventana sites, you can choose to send a link or a message to an acquaintance referring them to a Ventana website. E-mail addresses you provide for an acquaintance will be used to send your friend information on your behalf and will not be collected or used by Ventana or other third parties for additional purposes.
